Friuli to Tuscany
A 15 days honeymoon trip traversing from Friuli-Venezia Giulia to Veneto then to Toscana.
Trieste: The Bora wind can get up to 120kmph during winter. The wind is so strong that they even have shields on water fountains so people can collect water. Trieste was one of the most important ports in the world during the 1700s, the insurance company Generali was founded to insure the goods on ships.
Treviso: A little town that I fell in love with. It’s also the founding place of Tiramisu! The original restaurant is called Le Beccherie.
Venice: The city is split into six fractions called sestieri and each house in a sestiere was given a unique number. Giving another person an address to meet at doesn’t really help as it’s likely there are multiple places with the same address. You’ll also need to provide a landmark near by.
Valdobbiadene: home of Prosecco
Bologna: Canals in the cities are all hidden amongst buildings to protect local residents from poison attacks from enemies. Back in the days, there was window tax so around the city, you can see reminents of owners blanking out certain windows of their property.
Other stops: Santuario di Monte Grisa, Castello di Miramare, Lake Sorapis, Cison di Valmarino, Montepulciano, Bagni San Filippo, Asciano, Lucca, Siena
My partner and I are both morning people and on trips, we usually wake up before sunrise to try and find a place to capture the beautiful landscape of the area we are in.
On this trip, the perfect, quiet yellow fields of Tuscany, the misty air, paired with vintage and modern Fiat 500s made it the perfect morning.
P.S. I learned to drive a manual car in two days just so we can take both cars out for this photo shoot. I may have drove 15 kmph up a steep hill but I made it. My partner also learned how to ride a vintage manual motorcycle for the first time ever. He may have crashed in the parking lot while practicing but he safely brought us home.
